River Conditions:
The water is higher and a bit muddy. The release from the dam is low, and the fish are working. It is not just all small bugs. Fruit flies are working exceptionally well as well as caddis, nymphs and pupa. In the evening there are Isos coming off and lots of big flies. The fish are still there! Think of it more like hunting, watch the water and place the fly strategically. During the day the beetles and ants are also working well.
Hatches/Flies Working well:
- Needhami (22-28)
- Potamanthus (12)
- Tricos (26-28)
- Caddis pupa (16-22)
- Caddis adults (18-22)
- Isos (10-12)
- Cream Cahills (14-16)
- Dirt Divers (black)
- Pheasant Tail (16-20)
- Blue Wing Olives (18-26) (size 20s are exceptional)
